The Price of Greatness
Is Hell. Point Blank Period. Recently, saw the movie “Whiplash”, great movie needs to be seen by all, and the main character wants to great. Beyond great he wants to be a legend, Mount Rushmore type of person in his career. In order to reach this goal, he has to go through so much pain and stress to obtain a piece of what he wants. This had me thinking at some point. Is this a consistent thing for those that strive for success? Blood, sweat and tears are these the unknown ingredients in accomplishments. Think about it.
Every painter, every artist of any shape or form has major problems. Van Gogh cut his ear off for reason no one is really sure about now a days, but we all know he cut it off. Author Ernest Hemingway went through depression and was an alcoholic. In the end he took his life in his own hands and ended it.
I don’t want to be Van Gogh. Van Gogh died before his fame could catch up to him. Let me rephase, He killed his self before his fame could catch up to him. He did a lot of art and alot of things to add to his life to be a success in his desired career was something he did not obtain.
The price of Greatness is hefty. Even when paying it you may not get what you want.
