Popular destinations from a different perspective
This article was originally published by Tauri Travel.
Personally, I have visited hundreds of travel-related accounts on many social media platforms and websites. Although I love pictures from adventurous journeys and tours, at some point I could not distinguish whether I’ve seen a certain profile or not yet. The reason why was that photos from the popular destinations tend to repeat again and again… In addition, the pictures often introduce an icon of a given location. I don’t know how many shots of Big Ben, Eiffel Tower, Machu Picchu or Chichen Itza I’ve seen so far.
Although there is nothing wrong with posting such pictures, an inspiration for this article was a thought that it would be nice to present certain destination from a different point of view. Someone may think that there is nothing spectacular in the side random street of a popular city but, well, I believe that a bit of magic can be found in many hidden corners. This time, the article will not be limited to South America only but let’s start with a gem from this continent. ?
Galápagos: a long way to drive and hellish lagoon
Giant turtles, wonderful beaches, penguins, volcanos, seals, iguanas and blue-footed boobies. This is what often comes to a mind when hearing about Galápagos and it should not be surprising, as those are truthfully the icons of the Islands. The photos we’ve chosen, present a less known side of this destination. The first one is called Los Diablos Lagoon which be translated as “the devil’s lagoon”. The second one presents the road on the Santa Cruz Island which goes towards Puerto Ayora, located on the other side of the Islands. We hope that our pictures will convince you even more to visit Galapagos! Tauri Travel will start selling tours to this destination around the May.

Ibiza: hide in the cave if you don’t like parties
Ibiza is often associated with hippies, music, beautiful beaches, freedom and endless parties. However, for the fans of active holidays with a taste of an adventure, we recommend visiting Cova de Can Marça. The cave is mysterious and a ticket for this attraction includes a short audio-visual show. You may also learn a lot about the history of the place. It’s definitely a nice alternative to just relaxing on the beach. The photo speaks for itself.
Cusco and narrow charming passages
Cusco is a very cultural city located in the south part of Peru, often a starting point in getting to Machu Picchu. The main attractions of Cusco include a cathedral, Plaza de Armas and numerous museums. The photo we want you present you, show you a narrow passage on Cabra Kancha street. When visiting a new city, it is good to take a walk outside the city centre to better understand a reality of people who live there. The second photo from Cusco presents an another passage, this time a more charming one.

Rio de Janeiro and a specific church
Sugarloaf Mountain, the Statue of Christ the Redeemer and Copacabana Beach are the most recognised icons of Rio de Janeiro. You might be surprised finding an another interesting spot which we consider quite unique. The church photographed below, Cathedral of Saint Sebastian (Metropolitan Cathedral of Rio de Janeiro) has an interesting architecture and inside look very specifically as well. The inspiration for this project was Mayan architectural style of pyramids. What is interesting, the church is huge that it can accommodate 20,000 people at the same time.

Iguazu falls: over the edge
Iguazu falls are located on the border of Argentina and Brazil. They are huge and magnificent and most photos present them this way. In our private collection, we found an interesting picture of this wonder of nature. A shot below shows Iguazu Falls from over their edge — in our opinion, such a landscape is also fascinating and beautiful. When visiting this location, you can choose several designated paths to admire the falls from many perspectives and sides. This is undeniably a must-see location for the fans of South America.

Ruins of Machu Picchu from a very close distance
Regarding the topic of the popular destinations from a different perspective, we couldn’t omit the most iconic place in Peru — Machu Picchu which is often photographed from a long distance. This allows capturing its majesty — such photos are indeed breathtaking. However, once you will get to the ruins, there is still an ability to show off one’s talents. We present you a picture of the ruins from a very close distance so you can notice many details of the architecture.

This is our list of the popular destinations from a different perspective. Have you got your own? We would be very happy to feature your photo (of course with the credits) under this article.
