Most of the points you describe really have to do with poor management and could be solved by having a good PM or BA for your project. And if you did hire one, the price would increase. When I worked as a sales manager I always talked with my clients about this correlation between paying for PM and having a better quality or managing by yourself and getting results that depend on you. Very very few people understand that you can’t pay for simple work and have the most complex tasks solved. Those who do usually have no problems down the line. So one question is why of million of alternatives you used this particular company and didn’t hire a PM.

Other points mentioned are pure common sense. You outsource to save money, time or get extra development talent and get your team focused on other core projects. If you want to have the calls during your work time get international company where this won’t be an issue. You don’t have to have a CTO to have the work managed correctly. I can’t speak for Indians, and I don’t think this really depends on the country you outsource to, though there are some things that happen with some more often. We’ve also had cases when the infructructure was built by american but it didn’t take into consideration the full scope of the future project so clients would end up wasting money and needed someone to tell them stop that’s the wrong way to go.

So I don’t believe it’s a question of whether to outsource or not to outsource the question is how to manage this process or have it managed by someone to benefit from it and how to find the right people to work with.
