As mentioned in our previous post, today’s update will contain more information regarding our new token, Oyster Shell (SHL), as well as some information regarding new hires to the Oyster team and a development update.

First, here is the icon for the SHL token:

The SHL whitepaper can be found here. Additionally, we are currently going through the process of filing a provisional patent at the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

Finally, the Airdrop (blockchain snapshot) date for the SHL token will be held on April 6, 2018. The SHL token will be airdropped at a ratio of 1 PRL:1 SHL for current PRL holders (e.g., if you have 100 PRLs in your wallet, you will be airdropped 100 SHLs). Currently, the only exchange that may be participating in the Airdrop is KuCoin; however, we are still awaiting final confirmation from them.

We recommend, for the time being, that PRL holders who want to receive SHL tokens during the Airdrop should store their PRLs in a personal wallet, not an exchange wallet.

New Hire

Oyster has brought on a full-time Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) to help bolster Oyster’s online presence and reach. We will release more details and credentials regarding the CMO in a subsequent update next week.

Development Update

The R&D Team has made significant strides this week in converting much of our code base to Golang. In the next week, we hope to finish replacing our usage of the Java IRI with the Golang version as well as continuing to change out PHP in other parts of the code base.

We’ve been working recently with a group within the IOTA foundation to learn better how Oyster affects the Tangle and how we can work together to improve the health of the Tangle. We’ve temporarily removed public access to Testnet A while we strengthen our tip selection and hooknode transactions.

The Testnet storage system will be reopened to the public next week.

We are looking forward to the community’s thoughts on the upcoming SHL whitepaper and encourage anyone with questions or comments to post them in the Oyster reddit or the Oyster Knowledge Telegram channel.
