Animal Experimentation

Have you ever used medicine for a cough or a cold? Maybe you have had severe stomach pain and rely on medicine to relieve that pain? The medicine that you use to get over small illnesses throughout your life are only possible because of animal experimentation. Have you ever had or known someone who has had a cancer of any type? Well without animal testing the medicine that is helping you or a loved one overcome the pain of cancer would not be possible. My grandma survived lung cancer, skin cancer, and breast cancer because of all the medicine and treatment she was able to receive. Personally, I think that my grandma is more important than a couple of mice that died due to animal testing. Animal experimentation is needed in order to make the medical field more advanced and continue to save lives everyday.

Sure there are people who have different opinions regarding animal experimentation but clearly those people have used medicine that has been tested on animals before hand. So why do they believe that it is wrong if it has been beneficial for their personal health? The world will never know. Some say that the scientists who are doing the research on the animal are wasting the lives of hundreds of animals just because some of the tests fail. But without the tests thousands, even millions, of human lives would be lost. These animals died in order for us humans to live. I believe that this tradeoff is for what is best.

Animal experimentation has came to the point where animals do not have to be the object being tested on. Scientists have put a lot of time into creating new ways to test specific medicines and hopefully later down the road animals won’t even be in the picture anymore. People who are against animal experimentation should be happy that scientists are trying to develop alternative test subjects. This is a major success for animal activists everywhere. As of right now though, animals are still needed to develop treatment and cures for human illnesses.

Animal experimentation has been very helpful in the medical field. Everyone should be grateful that scientists are able to use resources, such as animals, in order to find cures for illnesses and diseases. I personally love the fact that if I get sick I will have medicine for my illness within the hour. I will continue to support animal experimentation for medical purposes because it is able to protect me and my loved ones from potentially getting very ill.
