EZ Tag — Tollway in Houston Texas is stupid.

For one, it forces you to either wait in long lines to pay exact change or go through the “ we will bill you” lane. If they bill you, they take a $1.75 bill to drive on some stupid highway, and add on a few of $30!

I literally paid $354 to Houston County Tollway. After I paid my $354 bill, I then decided to make an account. I had to pay $50 for some odd reason ( I believe it was to enroll ) and then I was forced to pay another $40 to start my balance. Who goes through a tollway more than $40 a month? That is bologna; however, I do sign up, to relieve myself of another $30 fine.

So I’m going along in my little beetle, hardly ever using my toll tag (EZ tag they call it, which I don’t find it “EX” in any way, shape, or form). I am a college student, I live about 15 minutes from the tollway in Houston; yet I barely use it. I only use it on my way to Austin to visit family. So I would like to know, exactly, how I spent $40 that quickly!

Anyhow, this is the kicker : they chose to charge $40 to my card every time my “balance” drops under $10. Why Houston? Why!? Being a college student, for me to have $40 in my account(well, to keep it in there) takes a lot of effort. I barely have money to make it to 60cent wings at Buffalo Wild Wings. Of course, Houston county figured this out and sent me an email telling me of my balance, and how they couldn’t steal my money. I didn’t care about my card declining, I wanted to decline the amount added to my balance. What frustrated me the most was when I tried to lower the amount of money they take out when my “balance is below $10" to $20… I couldn’t. Apparently $40 is the minimum. I literally just thought “forget it… I just won’t use the toll way ever again”. Luckily, I haven’t. I shan’t use the tollway ever again.
