Pomodoro Technique for Reading
Pomodoro technique is a very old technique which is used for time-management. It is a very effective technique that is used to work in time, managing your distractions and as a result creating a better work. I had never heard about this technique before and I’m going to use it when I was assigned with a project in which I had to use Pomodoro technique. Yesterday I tried this technique while studying for an English book which was pending, I always want to read this but due to the time management and Laziness I didn’t read but last day I started. I found a silent place for studying without any distractions and set my timer to 25 mins. The start 7–10 min’s went well, I was able to focus on my work but then I was distracted by my phone’s vibration, which I had forgotten to keep on silent mood. I fought for a few seconds with the temptation of checking my text message but quickly I set that thought aside and continued my work. The rest of the 10 min’s went straight on without any distractions. After taking break of 5 min’s, I started doing my work again. Again social media craving was distraction for me. I open my mobile and turned on 3G and checked my WhatsApp messages. After this time also I had 1 or 2 distractions but I had quickly set them aside by convincing myself of a reward in the end. I continued doing this for about 1 and a half hour. I would definitely say that I was quite surprised by its outcome, not only had I covered a lot of my work than usual but also I understood it quite effectively because of my focus. I would definitely use this technique again and I’m sure that I would get benefit from it.
