“No matter how rich we are, we can never be happy because seeing a child as labourer hurts every soul…. Let us stand against Child Labour.”

CHILD LABOUR is an ABUSE, for which there is no EXCUSE.

Welcome to our Amal Academy Mega Project, a transformative endeavor assigned to us as fellows with the mission to create positive change. For this, we are divided into 9 groups, each group has 7 members.

As a group of eight dedicated individuals, we have embarked on a journey to develop a project that empowers communities, fosters economic growth, and addresses pressing societal challenges.

Our group includes; Huzaifa Hussain(Group leader), Aleena Aslam, Asim Mustafa Jatoi, Abdul Basit, Ahmed Raza, and Tayyaba Nadeem.

We all searched for surroundings, did brainstorming sessions, passionate debates, and careful evaluation, we narrowed down our options to a select few that held promise for transformative change.

And finally, we all decided to combat child labor and create a brighter future for children.

Child labor, a dark stain on our society, continues to persist despite our advances in human rights and global awareness. It is an issue that affects millions of children around the world, depriving them of their childhood, education, and a chance at a better future. In this blog post, we will delve into the distressing reality of child labor, exploring its causes, consequences, and the urgent need for collective action to eradicate this grave violation of children’s rights.

Plan to Achieve:

Child labor in Pakistan remains a pressing issue, with an estimated 12.5 million child laborers between the ages of 5 and 14, according to the International Labor Organization. Hazardous forms of child labor affect approximately 2.5 million children, exposing them to risks and deprivation of basic rights. Despite efforts to improve access to education, around 22.8 million children are out of school in Pakistan.

Goal:

Our goal is to develop a comprehensive and impactful solution that can pave the way for a brighter future, where every child can enjoy their fundamental rights and experience the joys of childhood. By addressing the root causes of child labor and creating alternative opportunities, we seek to break the vicious cycle that keeps children trapped in exploitative labor.

Plan of Action:

In our mission to combat child labor and create a brighter future for children, we have developed a comprehensive plan of action. Let’s dive into our plan!

·We conducted comprehensive research on child labor, including its causes, consequences, and statistics.

· We designed visually compelling and informative posters to raise awareness about child labor.

· We’ll plan awareness campaigns in the near future.

· We established contact with organizations to explore collaborations. Further, we arranged meetings to discuss our project goals, strategies, and areas of mutual support.

Task division:

Our group leader divides the task among members. Like two of us will write blog posts and serve their duties by making posters for campaigns and awareness.

Other two will conduct research in their localities and identify the targeted population and have a conversation with them. And plus we all try our best to reach organizations for collaborations.

Progress in Project:

We are a group of six members who have no access to resources, power and connection. We reached out to individuals and organizations to help us. We asked for donations but we were turned down by the majority.

In times of failure, CLEP (child labor eradication program) decided to help us.

CLEP is a non-government organization working on a small level with high impact on many families. It’s a society where students donate for those children who are out of school due to financial hurdles.

It identifies children who are involved in labor of any sort. It applies to the health management system and provides them with support and education.

We arranged a meeting with CLEP and I’ll share the experience that I had in the meeting in a coming blog post.

Challenges:

In our mega project on child labor, we encountered several challenges. First, gathering accurate and comprehensive data on child labor statistics proved difficult due to limited access and varying reporting standards. Second, addressing the sensitive nature of the topic and presenting it appropriately for different audiences required careful consideration. And, securing funding and support for the project amidst competing priorities posed additional hurdles.
