Guidelines to move up in your career:

I am really excited to share my recent experience of Online Course. I recently taken of course of Mr. Salman Rizvi on the guidelines for the successful professional career. The course was on the topic of “Find your passion and align it with your career”. At the end of the course, I came up with following guidelines:

1. Put your time in: Everyone starts out doing grunt work till trust is proven

2. Don’t talk badly about the company or about your boss

3. Take control of your relationship with your boss and team members

4. Find a mentor and manage the relationship strategically

5. Join a professional body and build your network

6. Embrace change and reflection on what you are learning daily.

To share these guidelines and learn more, I called Mr. Muhammad Atif Structural Engineer in Habib Construction and now working as a site supervisor at Orange Line Metro Train Project. I request him for his time and able to get 10 minutes from his busy schedule. I shared him with these guidelines in detail one by one. He advised me that these are the basic guidelines of your survival in the any Organization. You have to do every type of work that is assigned to you whether it is related to either you or not or even it is grunt. He also told me that you have to work in the company so its up to you whether you work as a team or individually. He specially emphasizes on the need of a mentor. Ha said that if you want to grow professionally and want to develop yourself you must need a mentor for the guidance. At the end I thanked him for his time and guidance.
