We all know that Google is awesome, but what if you have a chance to get an inside look?

Pre-Story

I got selected to participate in Google Inside Look 2017 program, which took place in Google’s London Office.

The description says:
“This event will give students an exclusive and in-depth view into software engineering at Google, focusing on the products we are developing in London.”

And we’ve got even more.

So I was there

I can post tons of photos with hashtags #dreamjob #dreamoffice #super #cool #im_at_google #freefood #swag and so on…

But then it would be just another “Wow!” post.

It’s nice to share a happy memory of me getting to Google London and saying that it is just awesome.

But who cares in a long term perspective?

The things I’d like to share

If I only had 3 seconds to tell you what the trip taught me would be:

You can!

You can get your dream job.
You can create your dream company.
You can be whoever you want to be.

The problem is that people let their dreams stay only dreams.

Yes, you do need to be lucky.
But what we also need is a good self-estimation.

I often hear from people smth like: “Oh, yes, that’s super cool, but honestly I don’t believe that I can do/get/go through/make that.”

I’m not saying that you should be unrealistic.
You should have some meat on the bones and proof that you are good at your job.

I’m just wondering how can one believe that you worth it if even you have doubts about that.

So again: “You can!” type of thinking is a vital step towards making your dreams come true.

Oh, one more, Google is awesome, and that’s why:

Mindset

During the program we had a chance to listen to Googlers tech talks and follow their thinking process.
And here are some common traits they share:

open-mindedness
flexibility
team-work players

“The best thing about working here is that you challenge yourself everyday to keep up with your colleagues”
— I’ve heard that from pretty much every Googler

They’ve also mentioned that sometimes it seems to be difficult to face that much challenges, but I think it’s okay — we all need time to relax a bit, especially those who organize world’s information and make it accessible to everyone.
