On the left is the very best photo we had of Pluto in 2014. It was about 100 pixels across. On the right is the best photo we have today, as I write this in 2015, thanks to the New Horizons mission. Talk about 10x!

Huh? Huh. I spent a few minutes Googling and found that image credited to Alan Stern and Marc Buie with Hubble in 1996 [1], not 2014. I won’t quibble. (See what I did there @sandimac? :)) I was in Denver this spring when Dr. Stern showed that low-res image and made the same claim as yours. But [1] also includes a much better image. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot? Furthermore, in 2010 [2] shows even better images. I’m so confused. Bummer @alanstern and @plutoflag aren’t on Medium. I’m gonna ask ’em about this anyway.
