You’re missing the point entirely Marko. No one prefers to be obese, and the author isn’t trying to convince anyone that that’s the ideal state. The truth is that losing lots of weight and getting healthy takes incredible courage, lots of faith, and lots of hard work even when it doesn’t seem to be paying off at all.
I believe the author’s point is that if you can learn to feel good about yourself and stop the constant self-hate and antogonizing that consumes so many people, you might just find it easier to have the confidence and the willpower to slowly but surely get healthy. That was my take, anyway.
