The Power of Music — Movement and Life!

Every day I get up, stretch and drink two glasses of water. Then I finish my routine with a drive to Dunkin Donuts for my delicious dark roast coffee and then take a 15-minute drive. I usually end up at a park or a lake to sit there drink my coffee and listen to some music.
I have a passion for music. Music is my inspiration. It talks to me. Sometimes the radio knows my mood and a song comes on to remind me to go through the motions and gives me a moment of inspiration and motivation, I need.
Last night driving home, I was a bit in a funk. Usually, I turn to Bruce Springsteen for some inspiration, motivation, and transformation! Two of my favorite songs back to back came on, “No Surrender” and “Badlands.” The verses below reminds me of my dreams and the reality of life.
“It ain’t no sin to be glad your alive” is a great line. We each have a gift to share and we have to remember that we shall overcome your issues, concerns, and problems. Do not make your life harder because that’s what it will become. My blogs always have a positive spin on negative emotions and events. It is perspective. Life is outside of your control most of the time, it is about adaptation.
In “No Surrender” Bruce says “I want to sleep beneath peaceful skies in my lover’s bed, with a wide open country and these romantic dreams in my head.” Being loved is one of the greatest gifts in life and it is one that causes us to search hard and long to find that special someone. Find that special someone who is your yin to your yang that you want to share your life with.
There are many great genres of music. There is pop music which makes you feel good and wants to dance and move. Even though I’ve heard it many times Justin Timberlake’s “Can’t Stop the Feeling,” it has the power to get me in a good mood. If I’m working out, I like to listen to Ozzy, Blue Oyster Cult or Judas Priest. I like lifting and what’s better to listen to then some metal while lifting metal!
When I’m in a quiet mood, I listen to some classical and jazz music. If I’m in a relaxed mood, I listen to Jimmy Buffett or some island music.
When I want to hear some fiddle and slide guitar, give me some country music. Country music is another genre which causes people to go through various moods for something sad like a song called “How Can I Help You To Say Goodbye” by Patty Loveless to a beach and drinkin’ song like “Toes” by The Zac Brown Band.
Music brings out emotion in all of us. We go to concerts to be able to sing songs like “Friends In Low Places” with Garth Brooks to create an electrifying experience. Music is also a great concept to share with others and it creates great conversation because it helps connect us to others by sharing a little bit about who we are.
I wanted this blog to be on the lighter side of life to reflex on the world around us and what helps us get through life and how much a simple three-minute song can change your mood and how you feel.
Take a minute to turn on your favorite song, breathe, stay in the moment and just dance if you feel like it.
