A transparent traceability system is only as good as the comprehensibility of its output. If it can’t provide clear information to the customers in a retail store or market, nobody will use it. That is why TE-FOOD International has developed a separate mobile application to interpret the food history and quality data collected in the supply chain. This application is available for free in both of online stores of the two major mobile operating systems.
To interpret the data, TE-FOOD designed easy-to-understand user interfaces to show the transparent information flow in the system. A consumer goes shopping and looks for the TE-FOOD food QR code.
It can be present on label stickers applied to food products, printed on TE-FOOD paper bags, or on scale labels.
Food history and food quality
Scanning the QR code on the label by tapping the CHECK NOW function gives all the information available about that specific product.
It tells from which farm it’s originated, the time and place of processing and most importantly all the veterinary controls it passed on the way to the consumer’s basket. It also tells information about the feeding and vaccination/antibiotics use of the animal.
The app also displays information on the freshness of the food product.
Marketing Information
All participants of the supply chain have the opportunity to display information about their business. This can be used to build brand for companies which otherwise are hidden from the eyes of the consumers. This function gives opportunity for those who prefer local suppliers to select the fresh food product accordingly.

The app also helps to locate the nearest retail store / market which offers TE-FOOD labeled products by product type.
Conscious consumerism
TE-FOOD supports conscious consumer behavior. If the consumer checks a QR code, and it doesn’t match the information displayed in the mobile app (e.g. the color code is different), then it’s possible to send the case to investigation.
TE-FOOD will reward the regular use of the consumer mobile app with TECoin tokens.
TE-FOOD is going to implement blockchain, and tokenize its operation. Token pre-sale starts on the 4th of December, 2017.
