I’m not personally advocating this, but my impression of the goal of “debt strikers” is to get enough people to default on their student loans to force a crisis in the system and give them clout to negotiate with lenders and policymakers. Whether you think this is an effective strategy or not is one thing, but I don’t think your ethical critique that he is acting like a special snowflake holds because he DOES want other people to take this line of action.
