5 Things To Do In Hammersmith

There are many areas of London where the business world collides with the tourist world. Canary Wharf has become a must-see on all holidaymakers bucket lists. Another one of these areas is Hammersmith.

Despite all the serviced offices in Hammersmith, it boasts its beautiful gardens, parks and old-fashioned buildings. So here are five things you must do when visiting the borough of Hammersmith.

1. Ravenscourt Park

Surprisingly, this beautiful green park hasn’t made its way onto tourist bucket lists and is really only used by locals. This hidden gem, however, is larger than most common parks in London such as Hyde Park and is a real must-see for its rows of colourful flowers, open-air cinema in the summer, and multiple nature trails for families.

2. Hammersmith Bridge

Many people love to pose for photos on the various bridges across the Thames. Go a little further outside of central London, and you will come across Hammersmith Bridge. Over 130 years old, this bridge is a beautiful spot to gaze over the suburban landscape of Hammersmith, with the busy London skyline in the distance.

3. Thames Path

The Thames Path is a 184-mile long route that spreads from London out westward towards Cirencester. Where this passes through Hammersmith, it gives hikers a walk through history, passing through historic gardens, old buildings and beautiful Georgian houses.

4. Shepherd’s Bush Market

A short walk from the tube is this historic market which is open seven days a week. Despite the fact it is less famous than other London markets, it thrives full of fresh produce, clothing and other household goods from thousands of traders each year. The multicultural society of west London really plays a huge part in this market, offering customers an unimaginable amount of choice for every product.

5. The Boat Race

Everybody has heard of the historic boat race between Oxford and Cambridge University. This annual event takes place on a 5-mile route across the Thames, going directly through Hammersmith. The pubs that line the Thames in Hammersmith is one of the best places to spectate in the whole of London.
