Why do I need to become a Reflective Practitioner?
“We’ll spend a lifetime crafting our own teaching in order to allow children to be the authors of their own texts” — Donald Graves
Being a reflecting practitioner is an important and valuable asset to have throughout your life. To be a reflective practitioner is to be able to go back and reflect on the work or events that have taken place, and be able to reflect back on it and see where things went well and where things went wrong.
Documentation is a good source when being a reflective practitioner. It can be used as a guide to see where things need to be improved weather it be personal education or when teaching in a school. I consider documenting to be very valuable and I use it when working with my kids at school, I document where in their learning they are going extremely well and places that they need a little more support. So I guess you could consider me a Reflective Practitioner in training.
