Vegan at Myers & Chang

As a bona fide silly goose egg (and Canadian, yes, let’s blame this on being Canadian) I mistook MYERS & Chang with PF Changs for the last two years. I think my only experience with PF Changs was on an episode of the office? Anyway, from what I gleaned, it was a big box style food chain in the style of Olive Garden and McDonalds. My boyfriend, persistent (thank god), continued to ask me to check out this restaurant and last night we finally did. It was amazing! High-end vegan options galore!

FOOD

Wok Charred Udon: with bok choy and tofu. The nooodles were PERFECTION. The sauce was killer, the charred flavour was unreal, and yeah, I wish I was eating this now. This is a must try.

Sweet n Sour Brussels Sprouts: it feels like every restaurant in Boston (and elsewhere) is serving up this trendy veg. Well, Myers & Chang’s version was SOOOO good. The sweet n sour sauce was on point and the brussels were fried to perfection. Apparently they are back on the menu by popular demand.

Un-traditional Scallion Pancake: I love a good scallion pancake. This one was crispier/breadier than most (in a good way), and the dipping sauce was killer. If they added some (vegan) kimchi it would elevate it but I would order it as is any day.

Dessert

Chocolate Mousse: made with silken tofu (how?!) and served in an old school sundae dish, this was unbelievably good. Texture is light and creamy and it’s served with some crunchy chocolate bits on top. Top notch! More vegan dessert options please ;p

Drinks!

Non-alcoholic: I had the cucumber lemonade and it was super fresh. The cucumber flavour was super strong in the most refreshing way possible. A hint of lemony goodness and the perfect in-between-dishes palate cleanser. Highly recommend! They also had a nice tea selection if you’re like me and want a hot drink at all hours.

Alchohol: boyfriend has sake and says it was great! They have a few other cocktails and selection of wines.

Vibes

Ambiance: this place is PACKED and super high energy which I love. We sat at the kitchen bar and got a front row seat as Exec Chef Ashley Lujares whipped up dishes and called out orders. The lighting is dim, music is great and it’s a great date spot. It may not be accessible for those with hearing impairments (as it’s loud) and there isn’t much space for those who use wheel chairs (although I’m sure they could make it work). The service was good and the server was helpful with vegan related questions.

Your turn, go enjoy some of Boston’s BEST vegan food!

Reservations: we had no reso (silly us!) so over an hour wait but they gave us a free appy for waiting and were super kind. Book. In. Advance.! https://www.myersandchang.com/
