Put God First

It’s becoming increasingly easy to leave God out of the picture these days. When you handle a task and all goes well, if you remember, you quickly mutter a “Thank God ”. Then, you’ll hear one voice questioning why you’re thanking Him over something you achieved yourself.

Some other times, we are just too busy to make out time for God or give Him space to intrude in our day-to-day activities. We’re too busy to ask Him for help when we encounter challenges or when we are faced with unfamiliar grounds. At times, we even trust worldly solutions (the arm of flesh) than Him.

I am not sure if the reason is because we do not know that He cares or have not just allowed ourselves to be meek enough to allow Him or that we’ve not learnt the discipline of being still and quiet before God, to hear from Him on every matter. But if we’re going to live by the life of Christ in this present world, we’ll need to depend very much on the Holy Spirit.

So before you start that task, give that response, or make that business transaction, or make that decision, make a conscious effort to bring it before the Lord in prayers and wait for direction in your Spirit. And do not be forgetful to thank Him for bringing help, because He is sure to direct the paths of the man who trusts in Him; ask David (Prov. 3:5–6).

This week, even if you feel like you haven’t gotten all the marks right on how to live out the life of Christ, let’s begin with the ones we know and have been taught. God is counting on us to bring down heavenly conversations into our work places and other areas of our lives. But it won’t happen until we are ready to side in with Him.

If you are like me, you will prayerfully keep these scriptures; keep them before your eyes and close to your heart. They are a constant reminder that we are better off when our trust is in God.

-Psalms 7:1

-Psalms 9:10

-Psalms 44:6–8

-Psalms 17:7–8

-Psalms 18:2; 30–33
