The Journey Continues: Programming Club 2018β2019 Plan π
Throughout its second year of existence, the Programming Club attracted over 300 Marianopolis students, making it the biggest club in the school. We organized a series of workshops ranging from writing code to move Karel β our dog β to designing neural networks. We welcomed guests such as Hugo Larochelle β head of Google Brain in Montreal. We hosted a Learnathon β a day of coding workshops β that attracted over 100 students from across Montreal at Notman House. Most importantly, we put together the first version of MariHacks that brought together over 120 high school and CEGEP students from across Montreal under the roof of Shopify for 12 hours of coding with mentors, judges, and guests from companies like Shopify, Microsoft, ElementAI, and more. MariHacks 2019
After a successful first version, and with this yearβs amazing team, we plan on taking MariHacks to the next level. MariHacks 2019 will bring together over 300 students from not only Montreal, but New York and Boston for 24 hours!
Learnathons
In order to get our club members and future hackers ready for MariHacks, we will organize a Learnathon β which consists of 30 min work sessions for 3β4 hours to learn the fundamentals of a programming vertical β such as iOS development, web development, machine learning β every semester.
While you may think that we are geeky hackers β which we might be β we are actually cool people who not only code, but communicate, design, and do business. So, if you want to join a team of crazy geeks who get shit done with a mission to demystify the world of programming, we are actively looking for people. Shoot us an email with your resume at team@marihacks.com
Looking forward to another year of breaking recordsπ
Yours sincerely,
The Programming Club Team
