Why you’ve been seeing burgers and fried chicken on our feed.
It might seem strange that a company with a giant hotdog on the side of their food trucks is adding burgers and fried chicken into the mix. But we don’t think so. We think it makes perfect sense.
When we started Swizzler we never saw ourselves as competing with the Nathan’s and Oscar Mayers of the world for tube-steak dominance. We wanted to show people that you can (and should) teach an old dog new tricks.
The hotdog was the perfect place to start.
While the world thought about hotdogs as mediocre mystery meat pulled out of dirty water and slathered with store-bought toppings, we saw something more. We thought about all of the amazing memories around the hotdog of old— baseball games, backyard barbecues, being surrounded by friends, family, and fun — and thought we could bring that same experience to everyday eating.
We started serving spiral-cut, grass-fed beef hotdogs with local buns and housemade toppings out of our truck three years ago because great food gets people excited. It got us excited. We’re excited now, but this time there is even more to be excited about…
We believe in the power of potential. We look at things and think about how they could be if they were done the very best way, not just accept them as the way they’ve always been done. That’s where the idea of ‘Old Dog New Tricks’ came from, and it doesn’t just apply to hotdogs.
We think it is time to bring the ODNT mentality to the rest of All-American eating. We‘ve already proven it was possible with the ‘underdog’ of the crowd, so grass-fed beef burgers and humanely-raised fried chicken served with the same thoughtfully sourced ingredients? No sweat.
We’ve teamed up with Prequel DC to launch our Swizzler Test Kitchen, the only place you can come try ‘The Burger’, ‘The Fried Chicken Sando’, and other all-American eats and treats we will be rolling out over the next few months. And if one of the best burgers or fried chicken sammies you’ve ever had isn’t enough, how about extended happy hour deals and awesome barrel-aged cocktails? Now we’re talking.
You can find us at 919 19th Street NW in Washington, DC from 4:00pm-9:30pm Monday through Friday with lunch soon to come. As always, you can stay up to date on the latest by following along at @swizzlerfoods.
Thanks for reading Tribe, we wouldn’t be here without you.
