Five places to make your Peru must-see list
Hidden treasures, ancient cultures and rich colonial tradition make Peru offer so much more than just the famous (but amazing) archeological site of Machu Picchu. Here are five more locations for your must-do itinerary:

1. Lake Titicaca
The world’s highest navigable lake is a patchwork of islands both natural and handmade. Its floating islands are inhabited by one of the oldest-known tribes in the America practising old traditions.

2. Cuzco
Cuzco is the archeological capital of the Americas. It is the gateaway to big-ticket sights such as the Temple of the Sun, The Sacred Valley or the Machu Picchu.

3. Nazca Lines
This curious series of animal and geometric figures — some up to 200 metres in lenght — are etched into the Nazca Desert plains.

4. Colca Canyon
The spectacular Colca Canyon is reputedly twice as deep as the Grand Canyon and still inhabited. Its pre-colombian terraced fields supporting many agricultural communities.

5. Amazonas
The huge Amazon covers more than half of Peru and it’s possibly the most biodiverse region on Earth.
