The chemicals then send messages to areas of the brain that control emotional and behavioral responses. Neurotransmitters are then released in these locations, causing an emotional or behavioral response.

Three different neurotransmitters and their associated effects include:

  • Noradrenaline: Acts as a stimulant.

Essential oils are frequently inhaled using a diffuser. Alternatively, the oil can be mixed with a carrier oil and applied topically as a combination.
