Vote Explanation for H.R. 3624 — The Fraudulent Joinder Act

I voted against H.R. 3624, The Fraudulent Joinder Act, because it would unfairly tip the scales in favor of powerful corporate defendants in consumer protection and product liability cases. By making it easier for defendants to keep cases in federal court, the bill makes the litigation process more expensive and more time consuming. This severely disadvantages individuals that have been harmed. We must ensure that our justice system works for everyone and that we eliminate waste in our courts. With this bill we take a step back on both fronts.
