We asked our most active members what they consider to be the best article they’ve added to Vyrtex since we launched our beta three months ago. We’ll be publishing what they said in a series of posts throughout the week. Click here to check out Part 1.

Lauren

Lauren added “The 5 Biases Pushing Women Out of STEM” to her collection “Women in STEM” 2 months ago.

“I find myself wondering if I’m making this stuff up when I feel marginalized in the classroom, but this presented some great research to affirm that marginalization is happening on a broad scale.”

Jin

Jin added “The Grand Tour: Europe on 1500 Yuan a Day” to his collection “Culture and Identity” 1 month ago.

“I found this article hilarious, and I felt like the article told a story and provided commentary on traveling, cultural differences, and even politics without losing any of its humor or accessibility.”

Luke

Luke added “Inceptionism: Going Deeper into Neural Networks” to his collection “Art and Science” 5 days ago.

“Deep machine learning still isn’t understood well and has an empirical basis rather than theoretic. In other words they don’t know exactly how they got the computers to produce these images.”

Ernest

Ernest added “Inside Jara’s escape: advocacy as an Ivy League transgender sex worker” to his collection “All Things Ernest” 2 days ago.

“Candor is an understatement. These are the rare kinds of feature stories that have the power to shape your perception on a social issue.”
