Shade Balls🔮 are plastic little spheres used for slower evaporation in bodies of water💦 and are extremely eco-friendly!

Because evaporation causes the loss of more water than human consumption in reservoirs, these bodies are the most common use for shade balls. Shade balls also serve as a barrier for wildlife 🐮 to prevent feces💩 from getting in the water, protect against dust, rain☔️, and the formation of algae🌱.

Shade balls are made out of high-density polyethylene and are filled with water💦 to weigh them down so they don’t get blown away by wind. The balls also float of the water’s surface.

Each shade ball costs roughly 40 cents💸 and can last for about a decade⌛️ before needing to be replaced! Los Angeles already has 96 million shade balls in a reservoir!

What are your thoughts on shade balls?
