How I passed the Microsoft SC-200 in less than 30 Days.
First sign up for Microsoft Learn! If you have not signed up yet that is the VERY beginning of any Microsoft Certification journey. This exam is great for anyone that is looking to further their knowledge in the Microsoft Security stack especially as organizations are diving deeper into the technologies themselves. What people need to understand about this exam moreso than many others is that it is a true Security Operations exam. You will be learning about Extended Detection and Response (XDR), the different SecOps team roles and how Microsoft solves for these in the current market.
Step 1: Review the Microsoft SC-200 Exam Certification Page here. You will find that there are key advanced study material available for this exam. There is a study guide, exam preparation videos and even FREE practice assessments! But really understand the CORE objectives of the exam. Those objectives are listed below.
- Mitigate threats by using Microsoft 365 Defender (25–30%)
- Mitigate threats by using Defender for Cloud (15–20%)
- Mitigate threats by using Microsoft Sentinel (50–55%)
Step 2: Add and review the Microsoft Learn “Learning Paths” to a collection for specific module based studying. These paths are great as they include built in labs and documentation for further prep. If you want you can view my collection for this exam here. You will find some extra modules just around Microsoft Sentinel!
Step 3: Leverage the Microsoft Exam Study Guides found here. There are not many vendors who provide an outline of EXACTLY what will be presented on exam day. Well Microsoft does exactly that. If you follow this study guide and tailor your studying to this you will do great come exam day. (Especially focus on the Microsoft Sentinel objectives)
Step 4: Exam Prep Videos. There are three exam prep videos covering each of the objective areas! If you only watch one make sure it is this one covering Microsoft Sentinel!!
