I think this should be obvious to anyone who uses apps. A lot of the big names also just have boilerplate release notes but you see them every time you update, so every two weeks I see the same Facebook/Pinterest/Instagram release notes saying “Fixed bugs”, which is a waste of space and looks like a lazy effort by a big company (it’s considered lazy practice when programmers do that with their commit comments). In reality, I’m sure the issue is that in a big company it’s hard to put together release notes without turning it into a big thing with a committee, but that doesn’t sound any better.
Medium always has some creative and entertaining release notes, which demonstrates that the release notes are not just a chore – they’re an opportunity to engage users and impart the spirit of your company an product.
