🐐 Story of a Fighter

Another brief story about one of the best.
Let me introduce, this week, the Diamond, Ramon Dekkers.

🏆 224 professional fights: 186 wins (including 95 KOs) and 36 losses and 2 Draws.

Ramon Dekkers was a legendary Muay Thai and kickboxing fighter who was born on September 4th, 1969, in Breda, The Netherlands. Despite being a shy and humble man outside the ring, he was a formidable force inside it. With his powerful kicking skills and knockout power in both hands, he was a dangerous and explosive fighter who demanded respect.

He fought many fights in Thailand under Thai rules and was an eight-time world champion in kickboxing and Thai boxing. He fought against some of the top Thai and international fighters of his time, cementing his status as a true legend of the sport.

Despite his success, Dekkers remained humble and always enjoyed the challenge of fighting. He retired in 2006 at the K-1 World Grand Prix fight in Amsterdam. Unfortunately, at the age of 43, Dekkers suffered a heart attack and died while cycling in his hometown of Breda.

Dekkers’ legacy lives on as one of the most successful fighters to ever lace up the gloves. He burst onto the scene during the golden era of Muay Thai and kickboxing and inspired a generation of fighters with his skill, determination, and humility. His pedigree as a fighter is unmatched, and his impact on the sport will be felt for generations to come.

Let’s move to the next session now.

👊 The Uppercut

The uppercut is one of the most powerful punches in a boxer’s arsenal. It is a punch that travels along a vertical line at the opponent’s chin or solar plexus, and when executed properly, it can be a game-changer in the ring.

However, the uppercut is also one of the most difficult punches to master. Many boxers struggle with it, as it requires a combination of proper technique, timing, and power. But with practice and dedication, anyone can learn to throw a devastating uppercut.

To throw an uppercut properly, you need to drop your hips to load up your legs and power the upward motion of the punch. You also need to get underneath the target to properly place the punch. The uppercut is an upward blow delivered from the direction of the toes with either hand.

The key to throwing a perfect uppercut is to stay balanced and maintain your form throughout the punch. You should also keep your eyes on your opponent and be ready to follow up with additional punches if necessary.

🐲 My Martial Arts Journey (Part IV)

After a brief return to France, I leave for China, to train in Kunyu Shan Academy.

What is Kunyu Shan? Take a look at the video below.

I was expecting to do Kung Fu with Shaolin elders.

But, by pure chance, a Sanda course opened 2 months before my arrival, with one of the national champions of this discipline.

Here it’s how it looks like.

It’s like Thai Boxing, but without the knees and elbows. And much more explosive power.

It’s kind of the Shaolin technique applied to Kickboxing.

But this is not the only discipline practiced.

They give courses about Shaolin, Tai Chi, Wing Chun and Qigong.

Everyone must choose their group.

It’s time for me to decide.

That’s all for me 👍

Hope you will like it !
