Syrian rue also increases risk of the potentially fatal serotonin syndrome with SSRI and SNRI antidepressant interactions in addition to MAOIs. In a high enough dose, the herb can be deadly on its own. It contains harmine and harmaline, which are MAOIs themselves, although of a reversible variety — all in all, not a risk worth taking.

Another interesting tidbit for anyone who might come across this: Psilocybin/psilocin and LSD, on the other hand, have oral LD50 values less than water. Water is literally more toxic than these hallucinogens.
