Carlos Slim Helu — 60.5 billion euros (Mexico City)

Mexico’s Carlos Slim Helu owes most of his fortune from Telmex. Its assets correspond to 5% of the Mexican GNP.

He began from buying and selling of real estate in the center of Mexico, and the small businesses that he thrives, took advantage of the financial crisis of 1982 to buy back a lot of companies, including the telephone operator Telmex, which still holds today 90% of the Mexican market.

Bill Gates — 50.3 billion euros (USA)

He is the founder of Microsoft from 11 years and remains the richest US citizen. Bill Gates has already spent 22.3 billion euros of his personal investments on good causes such as research against malaria.

He co-realizes the BASIC interpreter for the Altair 8800, a tour de force and a stroke of luck, this is the first programming language that runs on a commercial microcomputer, it acquires operating rights from 86-DOS, enters into an agreement with IBM to equip its PV with MS-DOS and invades the planet.

Amancio Ortega — € 41.8 billion (Spain)

Amancio Ortega is the designer and entrepreneur, also included in the richest man of Spain. He leads a group that brings together a series of well-known brands like Zara, Massimo Dutti, Pull & Bear and Bershka.

Through Low-cost fashion, he sells items at affordable prices, he puts the great ideas and creations of the great stylists with collections constantly renewed that adapt to the latest trends, few ads and nice margins.

Warren Buffet — 35.1 billion euros (USA)

The largest investor of the 20th century owns 38% of the shares of Berkshire Hathaway, the publicly traded investment company in which he is president and CEO. Warren Buffet is 81 years old and suffers from prostate cancer but according to him treatment should not affect his daily activities.

Buffett targets undervalued companies with good long-term growth potential, buys when prices are at their lowest of at least 5 years, he can predict the business from 15 to 20 years. He only invests in companies like in those business which he understands easily.

Ingvar Kamprad — 32.6 billion euro (Zweden)

The Swedish founder of the IKEA chain, despite his great fortune he is a modest person. Additionally, he drives an old Volvo, flies in economy class, recycles his tea bag and carries small bags of pepper and salt after a dinner at the restaurant.

Charles Koch — 30.1 Miljard euro (VS)

The US businessman and the co-owner of multinational Koch Industries Inc. The KOCH companies focus on the production, refining, and distribution of petroleum products, energy, minerals, fertilizers, etc.

The employees of KOCH Industries are no less than 50,000 people in the US and another 20,000 in 59 other countries. In 2011, Forbes ranked the second group in the unlisted companies of the US, with a turnover reaching 76.5 billion euros.

Their father Fred C. Koch invented an innovative process for the refining of oil and the two brothers still majority shareholders of the company privileged their independence by refusing any IPO.
