What is Kodi good for?

Kodi supports many common audio, video and image formats, playlists, audio visualizations, slideshows, weather reports, and third-party Addons. It has network functions (Internet and home network sharing). Unlike other media center applications such as Windows Media Center, MediaPortal and MythTV, Kodi does not include internal digital TV tuner code for live TV or DVR / PVR recording functions but instead acts as a unified DVR / PVR front end. With EPG TV-Guide GUI interface, this interface abstracts and supports multiple backends through a common API through a PVR client plug-in from a third party. These backends can run locally on the same computer or through the network.

How did Kodi get popular?

Matricom showed interest in XBMC in 2010 and started developing a TV box called G-Box Midnight. Due to its streaming capabilities and support for the already popular XBMC, the box became a virus when it was released in 2011. Welcomed by each other, G-Box and XBMC / Kodi both attracted people’s attention and gained huge exposure.

Matricom has sold more than 2 million G-Boxes in the first two years, which is targeted at the media center. Matricom continues to design its firmware and products around the Kodi media player.

Matricom produced many different variants, such as G-Box MX2, then G-Box Q, and we are now the third iteration of today. Matricom’s continued success continues to stimulate interest in Kodi, but that interest has not disappeared. Millions of people now use Kodi only on G-Box devices, and certainly, there are definitely many people who use the software on other devices, such as Amazon Firestick or other universal Chinese TV boxes.

What are Kodi Addons?

Addons are the backbone of Kodi and what made the software a popular choice for Matricom in the first place. Over the years, third-party developers from around the world have designed thousands of Addons for Kodi. Unfortunately, many illegal Addons have been found and have damaged the name of the media player to some extent, but Kodi’s team did a great job cleaning up such chaos and slowly brought Kodi back Gained reputation.

How do you install Kodi Addons from the Official Kodi Repository?

Kodi’s official repository is full of great Addons with the added benefit that they’re all sanitized and guaranteed to be legal. By default, Kodi comes with the official repository installed, so it’s very easy to get up and running with any of the official Addons that are supported. We have created a tutorial guide for installing many of the addons: How to install Kodi Addons Easily.

Is Kodi illegal?

This is probably one of the most common questions we are asked every day. No, Kody is not illegal. However, it must be noted that Kody, like many things in the world, can be used for legal and illegal purposes. It is up to the user to decide what they will do.

What are some of the best legal Addons for Kodi?

Kodi is known for having the largest selection of streaming sources. These resources are available through Kodi Addons. With these Addons, you can extend Kodi’s capabilities to stream almost everything. If you are looking for the best Addons for Kodi, check out this regularly updated guide on legal Kodi addons.

Do I need a VPN to run Kodi?

There is a lot of wrong information out there saying that Kodi needs a VPN. Many Kodi resource sites are advertising the need for a VPN, so at least it can flood it. If the website tells you that you need a VPN, please warn in advance: the website may promote the illegal use of Kodi. In this case, make the best judgment not only because you will violate copyright laws, but also because viruses and malware designed to steal your information are embedded in known illegal Kodi plug-ins. Make it a botnet, remote access and possibly worse. Consider the situation where you were warned and know that you only need a VPN if you use Kodi for illegal purposes. Therefore, no VPN is required to use Kodi. As long as you don’t stream illegal content, don’t worry. Kodi’s default installation does not contain any illegal content or Addons. If you purchased a “fully loaded” Kodi device, the device may contain illegal plug-ins. We strongly recommend that you do not purchase such equipment, because, in more and more cases, illegal streaming media is enforcing the law, which will put you in a mess, which was not what you originally intended.

Are there any devices made specifically for Kodi?

Since Kodi can run on many different platforms, a question arises — are there any devices made specifically for Kodi? Of course, there are many “Android TV boxes” that can run Kodi, but what about the smart, affordable devices made specifically for Kodi? The OmniStick S8X, a miniature, affordable, powerful Kodi solution based on LibreElec and manufactured by Matricom fits the bill perfectly. This device loads into Kodi in less than 10 seconds. Connect a flymouse, connect to your WiFi, install your favorite Addons, and you are ready to go.

Where can I find more information?
