Welcome people, it’s the 16th birthday of the apple operating system for their mobile devices, let’s celebrate.
Apple has come up with tunes of big releases from the past and now they have introduced the latest apple update on the all-new ios 16
where we can customize our lock screens font, add widgets, new look new feel and of course, a new reason never to leave apple because they are soo good at what they offer to the public.
in this post, I would be bringing to you the 20 new groundbreaking features of the ios 16.
let’s get right in.

1. Redesign your lock screen

Apple made the design feature available this year, and you can do all sorts of wonderful things with this like
change the font of the time on your home screen
colour the font from white to tuns of colours that are available
you can also add widgets to prevent you from getting into your phone all the time to see what the weather forecast is or anything.
and you can also change and adjust the wallpapers.
this can be done by long pressing on your home screen and then the options would come up. then you can do as you please.

2 . Display battery percentage

this feature was present in the older versions of iPhones but the feature was then removed with the later versions of the iPhone — from iPhone 8 to 13. But now the feature is available to set this follow the steps below.
go to settings
battery
then you would see an option that says battery percentage and click to enable.

3 . un-send and edit messages

from your iMessage app up to two munites after send time. which is one of the most

significant features for most iPhone users.
all you need to do is click and hold on the message
and select edit to correct the message you sent
or delete to erase the message from both users.

Note: this feature is available only between devices that run on ios 16 and not lower versions.

4 . change how notifications are displayed.

apple change the way the iPhone notifications are been displayed. the notifications now appear at the bottom rather than at the top.
there are three types of ways notifications can be displayed

list view
stack view
count view: this is good for those who want to avoid notifications from distracting them when they work.
To set this, head to
settings
notification
and select the type you would like

5 . Remove photo’s from their background.

select any photo you would like to remove the subject from.
hold on to the subject in the image
copy
then you can paste it anywhere you would want to.

6. you can now add medication reminder

this one is specifically good for those who always forget to take their medication.
head to your reminder app
Hit browse and type medication
Hit on add
Input day and time and you’re done

7. Turn your iPhone into a camera:

this one is for those who want want to spend a dollar on an external webcam, and this might just become the new trend, and webcams, well might just be stuck in the webs of the past
to do this, you would need
an iPhone running ios 16
a mac book running the mac Ventura which would be coming sometime this year
same apple id must be logged into both devices
wifi and Bluetooth enabled on both devices

when your iPhone is connected as a webcam, you can enable desk view to see things only on the desk. amazing for shooting hand videos without stress right?

8. Unsend emails or schedule emails to be sent on apple mail. (speak of late timing) Android has always had this.

and you can set send delay for anytime you want
you can also do it from the mail app

Apple now gives an option to report some text messages as spam. Apple would then use this to help their AI fight spam.

9. Haptic feedback:

Yay to the ios 16 update! vibrating keyboard, yet another late feedback from apple.
to set this head to

Select haptics to enable it.

10. Merge duplicate photos in the photo library

Head to

Album
menu
utilities
hit duplicate

no need to be afraid of your phone saving the image with low quality because when merging duplicate photos

11. You can copy the edit (colours, filters and look) from one image to another

to do this

Click and hold on to the image you wish.
Hit “copy the edit” from the drop-down menu.
head to the image you wish to paste the edit on hold it
and then click on paste edit.

12. Apple added a new feature whereby you can now edit the metadata ( date and time ) of multiple photos at once.

in the past, you could only do this one at a time which was not just time-consuming, but boring to do.

13. Share contacts:

Before apple’s 16th birthday, you could when sharing contact with someone who requested it, send every single detail in that person’s contact sheet to the recipient, and in most cases, people don’t want this. so they undergo a tedious process of copy and pasting just the number of the contact. but not apple added a new feature to select the information you want to send about that person, be it contact, personal mail, work mail, whatever it may be.

14. Hitting the power button while on a call and it turns off the call.

I love the IOS 16 latest update

This used to be super annoying, as I turned to do it very often.

Hitting the power button while on a call and it turns off the call. this was a pain in my head because all the wonderful things I wanted to say would well rush out to somewhere I don’t know.
Apple corrected this feature.

15. New Earbud seating.

In the 19th century, before the dawn of a new era where time moved 3 folds backwards, were now at 16, I or we had to head to the settings app and the Bluetooth section to get to change some settings of our ear-pods. ( that’s if I ever had one) but I read it in history.
and now it’s no more. because apple leapt setting a house for the earbuds. you do not need to head to the Bluetooth section to make changes any longer. Apple dedicated a section in the setting app for the earbud.

now my favourite number is 20. this one would get some pulling their hair out and some hiring new security for their wifi.

16. WIFI network passwords

you can now view WIFI network passwords in the new iPhone update. to do this head too.

you would be prompted to enter your phone’s password or face id, then you can click on see the password and you are done.
