Amazing story! It’s unbelievable that someone would go to such lengths to forge into a jr dev position.
I think this is a great opportunity to expand on what it means to maintain a healthy mentorship. Your experiences show how important it is to set the initial tone when first establishing that relationship; it seems like a large part of that should involve honest communication along with a genuine will to learn and thrive from both mentor and mentee.
I had a mentor (Kaoru Kohashigawa) who would only schedule sessions on late Friday’s at 6pm, which gave us both the opportunity to prove how dedicated we were to improving my skill-set and helping me land a junior position.
