My New Year’s Manifesto

WE ARE ALL COMPLICIT.

Stop the blame game —
stop calling ‘the other side’ names, using abrasive rhetoric and making casual threats.
Especially on social media.
But also in your head.
Seriously, STOP IT.

Take responsibility for your space and place in this country.
Work towards leaving it a better place than you found it.
Remember that your words and DEEDS matter.

Greet those you meet on the street with kindness, talk to your neighbors, and remember, WE ARE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER.

Our society depends on how we all interact with one another.

Insist on action from your fellow citizens.
Hold them accountable for their words and DEEDS.
But forgive them when warranted.
Because they are your brothers and sisters.

Insist on action from your elected officials.
Hold them accountable for their words and DEEDS.
Never forget or forgive their past transgressions.
Because they have chosen the responsibility of governing our country.

Insist on action from businesses and corporations, small and large.
Hold them accountable for their words and DEEDS.
Never forget or forgive their past transgressions.
Because they chose to profit from all of us.

We live in an amazing time,
in a beautiful and diverse country…
be thankful
and gracious
and vigilant,
EVERY DAY.

Find common ground and BUILD on that.

Stop the blame game —
because this isn’t a GAME,
this is life.

Precious, fleeting, fragile, LIFE.

One clap, two clap, three clap, forty?

By clapping more or less, you can signal to us which stories really stand out.
