Day 19 … July 10, 2016 …. 251 days to go.

Hello on Sunday!
After a whole week of LOTS OF ERRANDS BUT NOT MUCH EXERCISE, I was able to fit a nice 4-hour hike into my schedule. I had 2 cups of coffee at a cafe on Main Street and then headed up hill. After just a few blocks on paved city streets I was on a dirt road and heading into the hills (and toward the trails).
Didn’t see many folks on my 2 hours of uphill or on my 2 hours of downhill, but did get passed by a lady walking her dog (I was walking at that point, not running) and by a friendly lanky guy who was trail running on the BANDERSNATCH/RED QUEEN trail.
❤
Departed at 9am and set my alarm for 11am. Mostly walked/hiked on the way up but also did stretches of running. Felt pretty good, but am excited to know that I’ll be feeling much better (and faster) in the coming months…
The weather was mild (cloudy, 70s, no wind, no rain) and the first 2 hours went by quite quickly. I glanced at the time and it was 10:55am. Hiked another 5 minutes uphill, turned off the alarm when it sounded at 11am sharp, and promptly turned around and headed down the hill.
Got back to the house at almost exactly 1pm and felt really good (not at all tired) after my 4 hour trail walk/hike/run. The left achilles and left knee let me know they existed, but my right knee felt great. Not bad after almost 3 weeks of “ramped-up” training for the 50k in March in WA STATE!

Later in the day, I played basketball (for 30 minutes) at GARFIELD PARK — just shooting as no other people were at the court, but still it was HALF AN HOUR of moving/exercising/being active. (Every little bit helps…)
Have a great weekend and see ya on down the trail….
