Joe, thank you for your insight. My battle is going on 6 years now. Single dad divorced many years ago but I raised my kids then one day it fell apart. Long story short……..bankruptcy, foreclosure and the death of my son within 90 days of one another. add to that becoming a care provider for two elderly parents which ultimately turned out to be a blessing. That sense of purpose and hiking got me through the initial reconstruction of my life. I would go out and do 6 to 10 miles a day sometimes twice per day when I felt I needed it. That time alone was essential to getting through some very seriously bad days. I often wrote down my thoughts and feelings but stopped for some reason. Since that time both of my dear parents have passed and I find myself lacking purpose so I need to go hiking and this time I’m going to keep a much better journal. Thank you for the inspiration. T
