How to sit in car waiting for someone

In the wing mirror / you’re shooting orange ropes / clouds of sand on concrete /

You cannot get close to the tidal wall / the long-wave crisp packet of the Chief Rabbi across a drum of water /

The men in their blue overalls are standing just so / After the auction they disperse into the cold light /

Like a tourist I imagine them eating fish pie at 7am / It’s ridiculous /

I feel like leaning out of the window / banging the passenger door and shouting right let’s go / behind that wall is an ocean
