The Open Data Economy in Australia

The government of Australia has embarked on an open data sharing philosophy that creates opportunities for all sectors of society, whether public, private or non-profit sectors. Through the free open sharing of government data an environment is created that stimulates innovation in the use of that data to improve decision making by all sectors of society through an open data sharing philosophy. For example, the open sharing of environmental data can be used for real-time response to extreme weather in a way that empowers first responders!
