Research was carried out concerning the way we here in Greece, our local and international friends use our mobile phones and more specifically the applications we use to make our lives easier as well as for our entertainment. The data for the research was compiled mainly from questionnaire filled out by Millennials. We have come to some very interesting findings.

Fist of all, despite the fact that Facebook was the number one app to be used, it has now been replaced by Instagram and is used by the majority of them. They all have Facebook but do not use it much except to read some news or for academic reasons. Instagram, on the other hand, has attracted everyone’s attention since with the use of the mobile cameras they post pictures on their personal account. They enjoy scrolling hours on end the photos of those they follow sharing “likes” and leaving comments on whatever they find intriguing. Some even have two accounts- one for serious photos and the other for silly ones.

Moreover, Messenger, Viber and WhatsApp are apps which users use to communicate on a daily basis, Messenger being the preferred app. Twitter in Greece is used very little whereas abroad it is more widespread used. Spotify and YouTube are the apps that the majority use to listen to music. What is particularly interesting is that the majority had similar apps for the same use. For example in Greece, Millennials have two or three apps for public transport to check if the schedules are similar to ensure they will reach their destination on time while overseas they use many apps for TV series.

A final point worth mentioning as far as online shopping is concerned, in Greece as well as abroad those surveyed admitted that they make about one purchase a year. The reason given is that they prefer the in-store experience and that they do not trust paying electronically via the Internet.

Taking everything into consideration, all Millennials use the same standard apps and others according to their particular needs depending on their geographic location.
