Day 1 Summary — AWS Partner Summit
Sydney, 28 April 2016
A View from the AWS Summit in Sydney with Ben Fellows, Head of Engineering at Teem.

Partner Summit, Sydney ushers in the beginning of 3 days of AWS Summit.
Staring at 12:30pm it was an opportunity to hear from some successful customers and partner stories.
The theme during the day seemed to be “Business Agility” and Iteration.
Traditionally when Enterprises have a new project they use an approach called waterfall, where design and analysis is done up front before starting the project delivery.
This means development and technical work can not start immediately. The value of cloud means businesses can (and should) be working with AWS iteratively — meaning changes happen frequently, based on a continuously improved design.
There were plenty of talks on the value of working with partners and how partners and customers can collaborate together to innovate in the cloud.
One thing that stood out to me is the number of large Enterprises that have multiple AWS Partners with specific skillsets helping them with everything from migration, DR, storage, integration, strategy through to Managed Services.
This means Partners have a great opportunity to grow their businesses and help customers leverage the AWS platform for several various workloads.
An area where there seems to be a lot of interest in the market is simplifying those Enterprise cloud journeys through Dev Ops capabilities.
Simplifying removes a lot of the traditional barriers and complexity to cloud adoption starting with a straightforward cloud assessment, automation plan and then delivering on that plan in conjunction with AWS Consulting partners and customers.
We look forward to being a part of that story for customers in NZ and Australia over the next year and being able to see both the AWS Customer and Partner Communities work together to build AWSome cloud run businesses.
Look forward to talking more about AWS Summit as the last day continues to unfold.
