Yes, we do. I am a black woman who went years feeling not black enough because I didn’t share the hair texture and hue of some of my sisters, while feeling uncomfortable about sisters my shade who seemed to hold onto old antiquated ideas of caste by color.
All I wanted was to belong. Regardless of what I looked like I came from the womb of a black woman and I was raised to be a black woman.
Perhaps the unity of black sisters can help bring about much needed Re-formation in our families and community.
