My Life in Collections: Mussel Shells, Age 3
Romie Stott

I was a huge collector of beach rocks and shells and feathers, but from the beach, since my family didn’t really eat in restaurants and my parents have an aversion to seafood, despite leaving nearish the ocean. I never found mussels to be particularly brittle, the ones I picked up as a kid would certainly hold up to washing, now I’m really curious about the regional variants of mussels and what might make their shells more or less sturdy.
