Do you remember LimeWire?

LimeWire was a popular peer-to-peer file-sharing software that gained widespread popularity in the early 2000s. It allowed users to share and download various types of files, including music, videos, documents, and more, directly from other users’ computers across the internet. LimeWire’s intuitive user interface and extensive file library made it a go-to choice for people looking to access and exchange digital content.

However, its widespread use also brought legal challenges, primarily related to copyright infringement, which ultimately led to its shutdown in 2010.

LimeWire left a significant mark on the digital landscape, serving as a symbol of the early days of online file sharing and digital culture.

Is LimeWire still a thing?

Yes! And a cool one too! LimeWire is now an AI studio, with a powerful and easy-to-use interface to generate images given a textual prompt (like DALL-E, or MidJourney).

The interesting bits are the interface: you can select the model to use, the dimensions and intuitively feed negative prompts (details you don’t want int the final output) and the cheap plans. You can also just top-up your account with some credits you can use on most of the offered models (including BlueWillow and Stable Diffusion).

There’s more than AI

LimeWire Studio is currently teasing audio and video generation “coming soon” (I can’t wait!).

In addition to this, you can mint your creation and earn revenues from it via the LMWR platform, although this is not the most interesting bit for me.

Finally, check this screencast to have a look at how easy it is to use!
