Why does everyone love Elon Musk?

Tesla launches a revolutionary 100% electric truck. A real spaceship more slendered than a Bugatti Chiron!

In a field where innovations remain extremely slow, electric trucks are a quite rare especially above 36 tons. But Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla not only wants to shine in the powerful roadsters and luxury cars market but also intends to revolutionize the world of road transport by unveiling the first avant-garde lines of a 100% electric truck prototype whose marketing is scheduled for 2019.

This 100% electric truck with futuristic lines and drawn like a spaceship, has excellent aerodynamic features and can reaches an air penetration coefficient of 0.36, slightly lower than a Bugatti Chiron (0.38). The average for a standard truck is between 0.65 and 0.70. This performance is mainly due to the absence of mirrors, replaced by onboard cameras. The technical performance developed by four electric motors on the rear axles are not left behind with an acceleration from 0 to 60 miles per hour in less than 5s without a trailer attached, or 0–60 miles per hour in 20 seconds while hauling 80,000 pounds of cargo.

But this super mastodon wants to guarantee nearly 80% of the Stockerjourneys made by all trucks today with a range of 500 miles. We do not yet know the technical details but battries would recharge at 75% of their capacity in less than 30 minutes. A record!

Inside, the driver sits in the center of a large cabin and accesses all controls via two touch screens. He can consult a GPS maps and control blind spots around his truck. The panoramic vision gives the sensation of being on board an airplane. The pilot can even stand up and switch on the autopilot. The truck will automatically slip into a convoy line and inform the driver of schedules and other technical routing and scheduling specifications.

Among its other high-tech features, the truck has Enhanced Autopilot which enables automatic braking, lane keeping, and lane departure warning. With its impact-resistant glass windshield, plus a near-road center of gravity in the event of an accident and an independent braking system for each wheel, Tesla claims to market the safest truck on the market and is so confident in its truck that it is guaranteeing that the truck will not break down for one million miles…
