Pale Moon — A Popular Open Source Web Browser!
Pale Moon includes a cleaner browsing environment with fewer pop-ups and more stable performance. The layout of the interface is similar to that of modern browsers and does not have many add-ons. Many of the key features of the modern browsers are missing in the older codebase, for example, tabs and windows. However, the new browser has the option of using the Java Scripting Language, which is available to all users. In addition, Pale Moon provides support for the new graphic standards of the XHTML 1.0 and XML 1.0 specifications.
The major drawback to Pale Moon is that it lacks many of the security features found in the more recent browsers. Some of these include browsing history and cache, which are often important security features. The lack of these features is observed by some as an advantage since it allows the user interface to be less secure than a browser-based on the Java Scripting Language. However, security concerns were not a major problem for this release. Other drawbacks of the browser include slow startup and a limited selection of built-in extensions.
The major different feature of PM is that it does not use the Java Virtual Machine, instead of relying on the notion of Java encapsulation. This allows the program to share resources such as memory and processing speed with other applications without being changed in any way, thus avoiding the need for large applications to be built from scratch. There are no Java code modifications required when using the older codebase; however, there are some security issues related to the storage of keys and other details stored within the Java code. These storage issues have been solved in this release.
