We created another app concept

This is an 2nd instalment to our app creation series – read the first article here.

Me and Michael are working together for about 3 years now and we wanted to take some time to explain how we work together.

We are graphic designers and art directors from Prague, Czech Republic. We started work together on a photo manipulation app called DEFQT (Anthony Fresina trusted to our project and joined our team as a developer later).

(Which recently celebrated over 200.000 downloads, 10.000 tagged photos on Instagram and we have been featured on ProductHunt by Chris Messina).

You can check DEFQT Instagram or read about it here.

We started working on DEFQT in Fall 2013 and we've learned so much form it. It was our first own product and even thought we are only three people team, we are pretty happy on how many people are using it.

We are currently working on next major update, which is exciting to do, when you know people like something you did and want to use it even more.

a new DEFQT app design

Working on DEFQT takes lot of time, but we are of course still trying to work on commercial and self-initiated projects as well. We usually end up creating something that we can’t make ourselves or that some else does in the meantime, but we still we think these concepts are valuable projects, that can help us in the future.

To-Day App Concept

Some of these ideas will never made it out to public but we recently decided to at least present some of our most favorite ones on Behance, where they can be presented as visual and interaction studies.

We already shared To-Day app concept we’ve made few months ago on Behance where we wanted to create an app that priorities your tasks and tracks your time. We want to present another, more ambitious project called:

Linkees

Linkees is simple app concept we wanted to create for ourselves, as we were struggling with all the links we recieve daily from our friends and collagues. This is an app concept, that we created to solve this issue.

The Problem

Our main channels for communication are iMessages and Slack. What we’ve seen as a problem as friends, co-founders and collaborators, is that we share mixture of crappy stuff and useful stuff together, even on the go. Everything from “I’ll be 5 mins late” to “Check this review of Kendrick Lamar’s new album”. So when you share 100 (or more) messages a day, it could really start be a problem to search something a week later. It’s can create a huge mess and it drove us crazy, since no service had any solution how to deal with it.

We are sure all of us have similar problems.

The Solution

The main function is automatic filtering of links that you recieve. You can’t remember a website your friend sent you a while back? You can filter by date, but also sites, social networks and of course — friends.

The interface was designed to be your central hub of all your links and focuses on the filtering them in simple, but clever way.

We wanted to create something, that will ease our communication and that we can still keep track of all the interesting links we send each other and we thought app like this, would be pretty handy not just to us.

You can check the project over at Behance and leave us your thoughts bellow:
