We are a local matter and energy phenomenon arising from

all the cells that work together to permit our experience of Life:

neurons, epithelial cells, nephrons, and goblet cells, among many others.

The result of all this cellular activity is our experience of having a mind that records the events of our lives and tries to make sense of these.

All of us feel our self as the center of our Universe

because we arise from our own mind and body, but no one else’s.

That is why all religions have had people who realized our own spirituality must be cultivated inside us. If we cultivate the sacred inside our own minds and bodies, that sacred place will become a source of strength and resilience throughout our lives. It is the source of the gifts we cultivate to give to ourselves, our families, and our communities.

I call this place the Temple in the Dark.

What does that mean?

It means that inside our skin is the Temple of our life that we cannot see, but only feel. Out of that unseenness, that darkness, we exist and project what becomes ourselves into each moment.
