Retiring jquery for these folks is a tall order. Considering most are probably using a mash of plugins that use jQuery, they might have to use it anyway.

jquery is still the finest library of helpers next to lodash IMHO. Take things like Ajax, throttle/defer, and memorize. This goes beyond templates, events and DOM manipulations.
