The Life of our Legend Kobe

Kobe Bean Bryant

August 23, 1978 — January 26, 2020 Sunrise — Sunset

Ever since yesterday, Sunday January 26th energies have felt very heavy with sorrow being felt all over the globe. As everyone woke up that morning thinking it would be another ordinary day, no one expected to get the news they received later that afternoon. Los Angeles Lakers player and star athlete, Kobe Bryant passed away on Sunday morning in a tragic helicopter accident. He was on his private jet flying to Calabasas, California when the plane lost control until it later crashed onto the side of a mountain. The helicopter caught fire immediately with nine people aboard, there were no survivors. Kobe’s daughter Gianna or GiGi was also aboard the flight, she perished along side her father at just 13 years old. I like to believe that Gianna left this world in the arms of the man that protected her the most, feeling safe no matter the outcome. I also like to believe that the death was quick and that all 9 people on that flight did not feel and pain or suffering.

On Sunday, the world lost yet another legend. Even if you weren’t a sports fan, still the name Kobe Bryant is a household name that everyone respects. And while it is common to mourn the death of those we lost we must do right by Kobe and honor him by celebrating his life, accomplishments and the legacy he left behind. Whenever we see a Kobe photo he has that big, beautiful smile across his face. You can tell Kobe was a very happy and peaceful person; just free-spirited and he wouldn’t want us to sit and be sad but instead keep working toward our dreams. It’s okay to grieve it’s okay to express the sadness you feel with this situation, death does hurt but death is just apart of life. People are born and people die every single day. Tomorrow is never promised so we must remember to have gratitude to all we have and who we have because your life can change in an instant.

If it was anything to learn from yesterday’s tragedy it is this: Keep working toward your dreams & ambitions, make the most of the time you have on this Earth because when your time is up that’s it, you can’t get it back.

Our duty is to live a life so amazing doing everything you enjoy, feeling fulfilled each night you go to sleep. So that when you leave your physical body in this 3rd dimension you can look back at your life and proudly say “I have NO regrets.” Kobe did not have any regrets in his life, even the trials made him a better man as it should. At the young age of 41 this great man left this world but his footprint is large and will never be forgotten. His name will forever be talked about and will live on long after he is gone. The mark he left on the world will not perish, it will be lived through all of us as his spirit lives in our hearts.

In our world there are two types of people, there are heroes and there are legends. Our heroes get remembered for all they’ve done, but Legends leave an impact that never dies. Our legend Kobe will never die, his footprint will forever impact the world.

Kobe Bean Bryant was born August 23, 1978 in Philadelphia. He is the youngest of three children and the only boy. His parents are Cox & Joe Bryant. Joe his father is a former NBA player. Kobe was raised catholic, at age 6 he moved to Italy with his family so his dad can play pro ball. Kobe starting playing basketball at the age of 3 and it was no coincidence that his favorite team was the Los Angeles Lakers. While living in Italy he would come to America for the summer to play in the summer league basketball team. In high school, Kobe’s number was 33 and his jersey is now retired at his high school alma matter. Kobe was the first freshman to join the varsity team. He earned national recognition for his efforts and when he graduated he held the all-time leading score for Southeast Pennsylvania. By the time he graduated he had a score of 2,883 points in his high school basketball career.

Many colleges wanted him but Kobe went straight to the NBA at the age of 17 immediately after high school. He was the youngest starting NBA player in history to play for the Los Angeles Lakers. In 1996 he was drafted by the Lakers where he played for the next 20 years. He signed his first contract of $20 million in the early years of his career. At age 23 he won 3 championships and got the label “The Clutch Player” In 2004, he changed his number from 8 to 24 which became his signature number. At age 29 he reached 20,000 points total earned in all the games he’s played thus far.

His final season was the year 2015–2016 and he retired at the end of that season. By the time he retired he was an 18-time All-Star champion at age 37. Kobe has won an Oscar, wrote a book called The Mamba Mentality: How I Play. He’s also done philanthropy and created a non-profit after school program named After School All-Stars.

To understand Kobe on a deeper more spiritual level let’s dive into his birth chart. Kobe is under the sun sign Virgo meaning he is strong, clear-sighted, hardworking and loyal in terms of life and career. Virgos always strive for the very best and stop at nothing to achieve greatness, Beyoncé is a Virgo and look at where she is! Kobe is also the type of person that would ponder over an action before actually taking it, he wouldn’t act off of impulse he was very logical and analytical. He would think things through strategically.

Kobe was a very confident, sensual & affectionate individual. With his Venus in Libra which is the planet of love he was big on affection and he was big on showing the love he had for the people he loved most. Hence, why he was such a family man that adored his wife and loved his daughters more than anything in the world. His Taurus moon is what made him so family oriented. He was also sensitive especially to love and tenderness, he was very big on touch and intimacy. With his earth energy here he was stable and grounded. He also had an attachment to material security, this is his reasoning for having such nice gadgets such as his private jet which he’s used for years with no problems until that faithful day. With his Mars also in Libra he’s very action oriented and isn’t one to sit around and wait for things to fall into place, he was all about putting the necessary work in to achieve the goals he desired. Kobe was the type that didn’t like conflict and would avoid it to the best of his ability. Kobe was more of the peacemaker. Kobe has his planet Mercury in the sign of Leo; Mercury being the planet of communication and indicates your social life. With Leo being his ruling planet he was smart but somewhat nervous in social settings. He was a natural leader and very reliable. Kobe has a Capricorn ascendant which made him introverted, pure, gentle & charming also very responsible and serious. Kobe’s life path number was 11 which is a master number, these individuals are mentally and physically powerful. It is the number of destiny, those with this life path have high intuition, spiritual insight and supernatural abilities such as empathy, clairvoyance and vivid dreams.

Kobe was a strong leader because he led by example. He showed the world what it means to be a loving and devoted husband and father. Kobe was all about hard work and determination. He was always working, learning, growing & elevating. While the rest were resting he was grinding, while the rest were vacating he was practicing making himself greater. He truly believed in himself and had faith in his vision. Not only did he want greatness but he would go out there and go get it!

Kobe Bryant died a legend at the age of 41. There’s lots to learn from Kobe but most importantly I think we all can take away the fact that life doesn’t stop until it’s time to be finished. Life is too short to sit around waiting and watching as other people are living out the same dreams you want. Kobe worked hard til the day he died, he made the most out of each day doing exactly what he loved. Kobe knew he was great but was never the one to be boastful, he always remained humble. We of course admire this about Kobe but we must keep in mind that we too can have greatness like Kobe. All it takes to create the life we want is belief in yourself, a vision, effort & hard work. Combined with self confidence and you will be exactly who you want to be.
